WASHINGTON (Jiji Press) — The U.S. government said Monday it has approved the sale of 150 advanced medium-range air-to-air missiles and related equipment to Japan in a deal worth some $293 million.

The missiles were manufactured by U.S. aerospace and defense giant Raytheon Technologies Corp.

They are expected to be installed on cutting-edge F-35 stealth fighter jets, sources familiar with the matter said.
