North Korean leader Kim Jong Un appears set to visit Russia within days, media reports said Monday, with Kim departing on the trip aboard his personal armored train.
The United States said last week that Kim expected to visit Russia for talks with President Vladimir Putin to discuss possible arms deals, as the war in Ukraine burns through Moscow’s weapons stocks.
South Korea’s Yonhap news agency, citing an unidentified government source, reported that Kim’s train had left for the summit with Putin, while Russia’s Interfax news agency said unidentified sources had told the outlet that the North Korean leader would visit the country’s Far East region “in the coming days.”
